Boathouse
Client: TiggColl Architects
Company: Xylotek
Role: Technical Designer
The design ethos for the boathouse is to celebrate its unique riverside setting along the Thames in Hampton Wick. Conceived as a seamless extension of the main residence, the boathouse provides a calm retreat by the water — a space to unwind while maintaining a strong connection to the river. The design also accommodates practical needs, including a dedicated paddleboard storage area for direct and effortless access to the Thames.

For this project, we developed a fully detailed 3D model of the boathouse that integrates a composite steel-and-timber structure, bespoke timber joinery, direct glazing details, a sliding shading system, and bi-fold timber doors. Our scope also included the production of all GA drawings, fabrication and shop drawings, as well as installation documentation. We also liaised closely with the steel, timber, and glazing suppliers, along with the general contractor, to ensure a cohesive design and high-quality execution.
